Lens Light Life at Milsons Point

There’s something that happens when a group of women turn up with cameras. You feel it straight away. We’d barely started gathering at Milsons Point Station – 6pm, that in-between light – when it was already building. One arrived, then another, and then suddenly there were 20 of us. Cameras, tripods, phones, even a bit of film. Different styles, different experience levels… but it didn’t matter.

There was no awkwardness. It just clicked.

We set this up as a simple idea – Lens Light Life’s first photo walk, in partnership with Lumix. Come along, bring whatever you shoot with, and let’s see what happens.

What happened was more than we expected. There was an openness. A generosity. No ego, no hierarchy – just a shared love of seeing. And the way a group of women, most of whom had never met, could create something together in just a couple of hours.

On the night, we invited participants to submit a single image within 24 hours as part of our photo walk competition. The winner was Esra Yavuzcehre!

Special thanks to Yulius Santosa
