Lens Light Life Photo Walk Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to participation in Photo Walks organised by Lens Light Life. By registering for and participating in a Photo Walk, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms.
1. Participation
Lens Light Life Photo Walks are social and creative photography activities that may involve walking through public spaces, streets, parks and other locations.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are physically able to take part in the Photo Walk and should consider the expected walking distance, terrain, weather conditions and their own circumstances before participating.
Please let us know before the Photo Walk if there is anything reasonably relevant to your participation that you would like us to be aware of.
2. Personal Responsibility and Risk
Participation in a Photo Walk is voluntary.
Photo Walks may involve risks normally associated with walking and photography in public environments. These may include uneven or slippery surfaces, stairs, roads and traffic, cyclists, crowds, changing weather, low-light conditions, obstacles and other environmental hazards.
Participants are responsible for taking reasonable care of themselves and others and for following reasonable safety instructions provided by Lens Light Life or the Photo Walk organisers.
Risk Warning: Participation in a Lens Light Life Photo Walk involves recreational activity and may expose participants to risks of injury or harm, including those associated with walking in public places, roads, traffic, terrain, weather and environmental conditions.
NSW’s Civil Liability Act provides for risk warnings relating to recreational activities and says such warnings should be given in a way reasonably likely to warn participants before they undertake the activity. NSW Legislation
3. Photography Equipment and Personal Property
Participants are responsible for their own cameras, lenses, mobile phones, bags and other equipment or personal belongings.
Lens Light Life does not provide insurance for participants’ photographic equipment or personal belongings.
Participants should take reasonable precautions to protect their equipment and belongings from loss, theft, accidental damage and weather.
4. Conduct
We want Lens Light Life Photo Walks to be welcoming, respectful and enjoyable.
Participants are expected to behave respectfully towards other participants, members of the public, businesses, property owners and Photo Walk organisers.
Participants must comply with applicable laws and reasonable directions from organisers and must not behave in a way that puts themselves or others at unreasonable risk.
Lens Light Life reserves the right to ask a participant to leave a Photo Walk where their behaviour is unsafe, seriously disruptive, threatening or inappropriate.
5. Photographing People and Property
Participants are responsible for the photographs they take during a Photo Walk and for ensuring that their photography and subsequent use of their images complies with applicable laws and any restrictions applying at the location.
Where appropriate, participants should respect reasonable requests from members of the public who do not wish to be photographed.
Participation in a Lens Light Life Photo Walk does not give participants special access to private property or permission to photograph in locations where photography is prohibited or restricted.
6. Photographs of Participants
Photography and video may be taken by Lens Light Life during a Photo Walk for editorial, documentary and promotional purposes, including Lens Light Life’s website, magazine and social media channels.
However, I recommend we add a separate photography-consent checkbox to your registration form rather than making promotional photography consent compulsory under these Terms.
That gives someone the ability to join the Photo Walk without necessarily agreeing to have their identifiable image used in Lens Light Life marketing. We can set that up after the Terms page.
7. Weather, Changes and Cancellation
Photo Walks may be affected by weather, safety concerns, access restrictions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Lens Light Life may alter the route, meeting point, timing or other arrangements where reasonably necessary.
If conditions make a Photo Walk unsafe or impractical, Lens Light Life may postpone or cancel the event. Registered participants will be contacted using the details supplied during registration.
If a fee is charged for a Photo Walk, any cancellation or refund arrangements communicated for that particular event will apply, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Emergency Information
Participants may be asked to provide an emergency contact when registering.
This information will be used where reasonably necessary in connection with an emergency or safety incident associated with the Photo Walk and handled in accordance with Lens Light Life’s applicable privacy practices.
Participants should ensure that the emergency contact information they provide is accurate and current.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, participants accept the ordinary and inherent risks associated with participating in a Photo Walk.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified, including applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
That final qualification is important: the ACCC states that businesses generally cannot use contractual terms to take away applicable consumer guarantees. ACCC
10. Health and Safety
Participants should wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the conditions and bring any water, sun protection or other personal items they reasonably require.
Participants remain responsible for managing their own personal requirements during the Photo Walk.
If a participant becomes unwell or injured, they should notify an organiser as soon as reasonably possible.
11. Under 18s
Unless otherwise stated for a particular Photo Walk, participants under 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian and may be required to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Lens Light Life may specify additional age requirements for individual Photo Walks.
12. Changes to These Terms
Lens Light Life may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The terms applying to a Photo Walk will be those made available to the participant when they register, subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
